While I was taking a shit a few minutes ago, I read an article on the state of feminism in America.
Among a myriad of examples, all of which I could easily demonstrate proves the opposite of the author’s position, was the young Saudi Arabian woman who was convicted and sentenced to some harsh sentence after being raped.
One of the bedrock features of American jurisprudence is that ignorance of the law is no excuse.
In that case, she was not ignorant of the law barring different unmarried sexes associating.
The facts of the case - to which she agreed - was that she voluntarily broke the law against unmarried males and females associating.
Obviously, the rapist should and did get convicted too.
Here’s the problem with modern leftists, however…
Gandhi KNOWINGLY violated the prevailing laws at the time, but accepted the legal penalties for those actions. Yes, he continually violated laws to create a movement. Yes, he knew he would suffer the penalties for that. He only complained that the laws were unjust, but accepted that his actions would result in penalties.
Martin Luther King Jr. also violated the prevailing laws at the time, and he also - like Gandhi - accepted that even though laws were unjust he was willing to brave the penalties his actions incurred.
History is replete with examples of people who defied unjust laws and died righteously opposing those laws.
The great ones never bitched and moaned about having to bear the brunt of their actions.
In fact, they knew they would be martyrs. Martyrs whose courage would result in the destruction of unjust laws.
One need only be an American to believe that the Saudi law she was convicted under is an unjust law. Or just be a horny college freshman.
But if you act in defiance of an unjust law, what separates righteousness from selfishness is proudly being a martyr of an unjust law.
That is what history demands.
That is what Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi demand.
Take responsibility for your actions and don’t bitch and moan about having to take ownership of the resulting punishment for disobeying unjust laws.
She purposefully and knowingly broke the law. Because she broke the law she became a victim.
She is no martyr.
Her situation is the epitome of “Two wrongs don’t make a right.”
The rapist was punished. Good.
She should now proudly bear her punishment as a honor banner in the fight for women’s rights. Instead of trying to play the victim card to avoid responsibility for her own actions.
She is also a lesson for women across America.
Yes, no question you should be free from rape.
But, yes, you really should run a background check on anyone you drive to a remote location with, or accept a drink of questionable origin.
Criminals don’t care about the law. Drunk drivers don’t care about the law. Just as when you see a drunk driver careening toward your car - you should take immediate steps to protect yourself, so should you when dealing with rapists.
Try to remember that before you flash your boobs for a free drink at mardi gras only to end up on a park bench with 25 different types of sperm in your hooch three days later.
As my old friend Smokey the Bear once told me over Beer Pong, Only you can prevent your violation.
