Readers here will note my concern that Mike Rogers of blogactive.com fame is a bit close to pre-pubescent boys since his stint at the vulnerable boys at Hetrick-Martin Institute.

That John Arovosis would accuse Mike Rogers of being a drug dealer (which Rogers acknowledges) this brings the issue of pre-teen boys and the use of drugs that could make them susceptible to having sex with much older men something prosecutors should look at.

The Drug Enforcement Administration should also look into the activities of Michael Rogers given his admitted use of drugs and his former sex buddy’s accusation of drug dealing.

Update: Scientology is gay.

Around 11pm last night Michael Rogers had posted a rambling attack on John Aravosis of Americablog.com about something to do with Pam Spaulding’s Pam’s House Blend; his sex life with Aravosis; drug dealing; marijuana; and lots of other fun stuff.

Aravosis has posted his response to the situation on Americablog, which was posted here and now I’m posting it below:

• No, it’s on purpose. Pam violated my confidence, leading Mike Rogers to yet again start harassing me, and I can’t in good faith promote her anymore (which is sad, since Joe especially has done so much to promote Pam over the years). Basically, when Pam was hired to write for us this past summer, and I paid her $500 in addition to letting her promote her own blog as much as she wanted, I asked her not to link to Mike Rogers’ sites blogactive and pageoneq. Why? Because Rogers spent a good deal of 2006 harassing me and threatening me (he unfortunately lives in my building), sending me barely rational rants by email. He also in the past has threatened Markos and other top bloggers, has threatened friends of mine working with Harry Reid, has threatened the DCCC (the House body that helps Democrats get elected) that they had better buy ads or else he would go to the press and try to hurt them by linking them to the outing of GOP Rep Schrock, he was on a longtime campaign to bring down David Brock and Media Matters because he said that David was a criminal and needed to be stopped (I have emails from him detailing all of this), and much more. He even came to my door one night, started banging on it, and yelling that he knew that I had received a “six figure check” from some donor (not true, but wish I had), and that I had promised to give him 50% of that six figure check and if I didn’t hand it over right now he was going to devote an entire chapter of his book to me and the six figure check I never gave him. Not only was there never such a check, but I never promised him half of any income I receive. Obviously, the experience was very weird and very scary. Then there were my public appearances. Remember when I was invited to speak on the House Democratic panel about right-wing media bias along with David Brock, Al Franken and others? Rogers called Cong. Conyer’s top legal counsel on the committee, demanding that I be dropped from the panel - I know because Conyers staff told me. He then called the Take Back America conference, demanding that I be taken off Blogger Row. Again, I know because the woman in charge of Blogger Row told me about it. We’re talking very, very bizarre behavior.
• While he suddenly stopped threatening everyone in 2007, at least I think he did, I was worried that his bizarre behavior might return (since it wasn’t clear why it had started in the first place) and I didn’t want to promote him or his site since that might give him more donations and more power, ultimately making it easier for him to threaten me and other top liberal activists the next time he irrationally decided to start attacking us. Well, Pam decided to tell Mike that I asked her not to link to him, and now, oddly, six months after his discussion with Pam, he sent me an email threatening to no longer let gay ads be sold on my site, he’s now confronting and/or yelling at me in the hallway of my building every time he sees me, tellling me how everyone hates me, and, what a surprise, now someone with a DC IP address spammed the comments a day ago with one of my gay online dating profiles (not that I care, it’s a very clean “looking for friends and dates” profile with face pics, thank you, because I’m really not ashamed of trying to meet someone, being single and all), but you can imagine what is motivating someone who would try to hurt me by “outing” me as a single gay man who dates men using g-rated online profiles.
• There are other issues here as well, including some illegal activity that I won’t document publicly if I don’t have to, but that will involve the police as well. It’s all a big mess, and thanks to Pam, it’s all happening again (and she didn’t even apologized). So, yes, Pam isn’t going to be getting our help any time soon, and while I considered not telling you guys what was up with Rogers - no one in town has been sharing publicly what he tried to do to some many of our good allies like Media Matters, Markos and others, since it’s now almost a daily occurrence that he is confronting me in my hallway, and I now have “anonymous” DC IP addresses trying to “out” me as a gay man, I’m going public. I’m not convinced that his actions are rational, so I’m not convinced that going public about this will stop him from harassing me or my friends, but short of moving, and I am condo hunting, at this point I don’t have a choice. I have to try something.
• I expect him to say that this is all lies and slander and he’s going to sue, that’s his usual MO when he’s confronted about these things. He even sent me a registered letter about a year ago claiming that I was “stalking” him and that his lawyer was going to take me to court (of course, at the time, I hadn’t seen him in months, thankfully). The entire thing is beyond bizarre. But keeping my mouth shut, my friends keeping their mouths shut, has gotten us nowhere. Well, the mouths aren’t going to be shut anymore.
