You have to go southeast. You know there’s no other way.
Midwest is a tossup and no V.P. will change that.
West of the Mississippi is all you, no need to double down.
North East you have Lieberman, who is best as an Independent - reinforcing your image - not as a Republican. Plus he’s jewish and no matter how much they marched back in Selma, they are just not ready still. It’s one thing for them to free them, but live next to them? Oh, hell no.
That gives you an edge in Florida, but Florida is a must win, not an edge needed.
Plus, Crist brings the Florida panhandle with its cross border relatives and friends in the states north of the border.
He’s sufficiently independent enough in ways that no religious right choice could ever be to get street cred, while still being mainstream republican enough to draw them religious women that drive how their husbands vote.
He offsets your age without being too Quayle (who really should have waited for a better time - mad respect for my boy!).
He’s also the only one that has been scandalized and risen in spite of it. Shows good stock. Plus, if there were hard proof that could be used in an ad or something - it would have already been played, so he’s a safe choice.
That is why I choose Charlie Crist as your Vice Presidential candidate. Now get to making all nicey nice with him.
